What should I expect at my brazilian wax session?

A brazilian wax session usually takes between 20 to 30 minutes. A standard brazilian wax session will usually involve the following steps.

  1. Your salon therapist will provide you with a paper g-string and ask you to disrobe. You will then be asked to sit down.
  2. Baby powder, talcum powder or oil will be spread around the genital area to be waxed. The application of baby powder, talcum powder or oil prevents the hot wax from sticking to the skin.
  3. Hot wax is spread over the genital area using a wax strip. The most common wax mixture is made from natural beeswax and tall oil. This mixture of beeswax and tall oil is stronger and more effective at removing the thicker pubic hairs compared to the synthetic waxes commonly used for regular leg waxing.
  4. Some time is given to allow the wax to harden briefly.
  5. One edge of the wax strip is pulled up and used as a tab to quickly pull off the rest of the wax. The wax strip is usually pulled in the opposite direction of hair growth.
  6. Wax is reapplied and pulled off to remove hair from the genital area, buttocks and anus.
  7. Tweezers are then used to remove any stray hairs.
  8. The remaining pubic hair (or landing strip) is then trimmed. The remaining pubic hair is sometimes trimmed to a particular pattern.
